Breakdance Bear – Spark AR

We had a few days at the end of the year before the holidays to experiment. Recalling the Snapchat dancing hot dog, we decided to put our own spin on a flashy character with a chaotic energy. Breakdancing Bear is here to rip up the dance floors near you – give this filter a spin.

Building a breakdance-able bear rig was surprisingly not the hardest part. It was tricky to animate breakdancing- particularly the windmill- on a character with such stubby arms. Having him reach all the way behind his back was nearly impossible. It was a fun animation to work on and study even if none of us came out of it with the ability to actually breakdance.

The Oddball Effect

Breakdance Bear was our first extremely popular plane tracking filter. Similar to the response to our Egg Head filter, we learned from this that people love weird oddball content.
